Aberdeen’s Risk Report sets out to answer the question, “How can you know what to do about Insider Risk if you don’t first know how much Insider Risk your organization has?” The report goes on to explain that the best way to understand insider risk at your organization is through visibility, context, and the quantification of the business impact if data is compromised.
Key findings from this report:
- About 1 in 3 reported breaches involve an insider but 80% of those insider breaches are unintentional
- Data breaches are more likely to occur on end-user endpoints than on back-end servers, by factors of 1.1x to 4.5x
- The number of data exposure events over the past five quarters averaged between 6 and 34 (median: 13) data exposures per user, per day
